Companions Gather for Retreat

Nearly 100 lay associates of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood gathered for a retreat October 15-16, 2011, at St. Charles Center in Carthagena, Ohio.

Sister Barbara Jean Franklin, ASC, led the retreat. She examined several family-related themes in Scripture — Jacob and Esau, the prodigal son, and the disciples on the road to Emmaus — and how they offer lessons in family life today.

Over a dozen lay associates, called Companions, made or renewed their covenants with the Community during the closing liturgy of the retreat, where the provincial director, Fr. Larry Hemmelgarn, C.PP.S., presided.

Sister Barbara Jean offered the same retreat to Companions in the Kansas City Province earlier in the month.
